Programmed the L.A. premiere of Graham Reynolds’ “Pancho Villa from a Safe Distance” at Skirball Cultural Center, presented in partnership with Los Angeles Performance Practice and the Theatre at Ace Hotel.
This experimental chamber opera about Pancho Villa, the legendary bandit, enigmatic general, and hero of the Mexican Revolution, features music by composer Graham Reynolds and a libretto by Mexico City–based theater collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, contributing to the current conversation about borders and the limitations of the concept of delineated states.
